The Derwentwater Hotel - Opening January 2027!

Exciting progress is being made at our newest Alfa Hotel and we can’t wait to welcome guests back next year.

The transformation of the Derwentwater Hotel is well underway, with the brand-new roof nearing completion, new windows being installed throughout the property and the hotel’s new lift now in place. Behind the scenes, a full refurbishment is taking place from top to bottom, creating a fresh new look truly worthy of the hotel’s stunning lakeside location.

When the hotel reopens in January, guests will be able to relax in one of 64 beautifully refurbished bedrooms and enjoy the elegant new restaurant and conservatory. Both spaces have been designed to make the most of the spectacular views across Derwent Water, offering the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the Lake District.

Our full range of 2027 coach holidays staying at the Derwentwater Hotel is now on sale, and demand is already proving popular. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred departure date.


In the meantime, our self-catering apartments and cottage remain open and available to book. We’re also delighted to announce that a further seven brand-new studio and one-bedroom apartments will be open and available for stays from 20 July.

The Derwentwater Hotel, Keswick

Set within 15 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, the Derwentwater Hotel has undergone a £4m refurbishment in 2026 and enjoys spectacular lake views from its expansive conservatory and many of its bedrooms. A gentle stroll through the grounds leads you straight to the peaceful shores of Derwentwater, where you can breathe in the fresh air and admire the magnificent surrounding fells, it’s the ultimate escape.

Each bedroom is a comfortable retreat, with comfortable beds, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the beautiful Lake District.

The hotel has a car park, free Wi-Fi throughout and a lift that serves all floors, with some steps to rooms on split levels.

Things to do in Keswick

Nestled in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Keswick is a charming market town offering the perfect blend of scenic beauty and gentle exploration. 

Surrounded by dramatic fells and overlooking the tranquil waters of Derwentwater, it’s a haven for walkers and nature lovers. The town itself brims with character, featuring traditional shops, cosy tea rooms, and a lively market square, it’s easy to see how such an area inspired world renowned writers like  William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. 

Visitors can enjoy a leisurely boat trip, visit the fascinating Keswick Museum, or simply relax and take in the scenic landscapes. With its welcoming atmosphere and unspoilt charm, Keswick is a delightful base for a memorable coach holiday.

Bowness-on-Windermere & Ambleside

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the independent shops, or relax in one of the tea rooms with a coffee and watch the world go by. Later, we visit Ambleside, a picturesque town at the northern tip of Windermere, renowned for its quaint streets, historic buildings, and beautiful surroundings.

Keswick & Grasmere

Venture into the spectacular scenery of the Northern Lakelands as we visit Keswick, situated on the shores of Derwentwater and overlooked by Cat Bells. Grasmere lies at the very heart of the National Park. Follow your nose to Sarah Nelson’s Grasmere Gingerbread Shop situated in the grounds of the parish church – still made to a secret recipe!

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

We step aboard a slice of heritage with a journey on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway affectionately known as La’al Ratty. This delightful narrow-gauge steam train winds its way through seven scenic miles of the Lake District National Park, from the coastal village of Ravenglass to the foot of the fells at Dalegarth.
