Weston-super-Mare is situated in a sheltered bay at the foot of the Mendip Hills with views across the Bristol Channel to South Wales. There are many Victorian and Edwardian terraces interspersed with colourful parks and gardens. Attractions include the magnificent Grand Pier, a Sea Life centre, dancing at the famous Winter Gardens and top class cabaret and big star names performing at the Playhouse theatre. Weston is close to the historic cities of Bath and Bristol and the resort's position, nestling between the Mendip Hills and the Bristol Channel, means there is some lovely scenery and many opportunities for rambling and water sports.
The town centre has a pedestrianised High Street and indoor Sovereign Shopping Centre. Intriguing antiques, books and craftworks are amongst Weston's narrow side streets. Bristol city centre is just half an hour away.
The resort's beach and gardens provide an excellent environment for relaxation with deckchairs, bowling lawns and music from the bandstands. Weston's clean, sandy beaches stretch over a mile along the recently remodelled seafront. Its gardens are well kept and are frequent contenders in the Britain in Bloom contest.
