Welsh Towns & Village Gems

Resort - Llandudno

Overview

Situated on a sandy isthmus between the Great Orme and Little Orme Heads, Llandudno boasts two superb beaches. The shingly North Shore is the busier of the two with its Victorian Pier, boat trips, donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows and much more. The sandy West Shore is quieter with miles of sands and panoramic views of the Snowdonia mountain range in the distance. Llandudno is a highly attractive resort with its magnificent crescent of hotels, broad tree-lined streets and elegant shops all combining to produce a unique atmosphere. There are two golf courses. A tramway and cable car both offer a route to the summit of the Great Orme (which also boasts a superb dry ski slope - one of the best in Britain). There is plenty to do both by day and by night and you are sure never to have a dull moment at what many would claim to be the most complete of all British holiday resorts.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Outward Travel - Llandudno – En Route Chester

  • We depart the interchange and make our way to the medieval city of Chester a place where history and heritage are visible at every turn. Highlights include the Roman Amphitheatre, the ancient city walls, and the magnificent cathedral, all of which are well worth exploring (entry fees may apply). You can also enjoy browsing a mix of independent boutiques and well-known high street stores along the famous “Rows”—distinctive half-timbered, two-tier galleries found nowhere else in the world. From here, we continue our journey on to Llandudno.

Day 2 - Betws-y-Coed & Conwy

  • Enjoy an excursion to Betws-y-Coed, a picturesque village set amidst dense woodlands, with a selection of charming shops and cafés to explore. Our journey then continues to Conwy, where the majestic castle overlooks the town.

Day 3 - Day at Leisure

Day 4 - Caernarfon & Llanfairpwll

  • Visit Caernarfon, home to Wales’ renowned castle and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This impressive fortress, built by Edward I, dominates the skyline and was the site of the investiture of Charles, Prince of Wales. Wander the town’s narrow streets and take in its stylishly redeveloped waterfront. Later, we travel to Llanfairpwll, a large village on Anglesey, famous for its full name: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch—the longest place name in Europe. The village’s railway station, displaying the full name, provides an ideal photo opportunity.
